Finally Success!

This title is in reference to finally, drum roll please, getting to shear a sheep! As some of you will know this has been a goal of mine since I arrived and good luck landed me on some friends farm where I was allowed to shear one of the pet sheep. Video is posted below.

By the by, this place in which I am sheering a sheep is located in Timaru, on a place called Canterbury Tomatoes. It is a hydroponic tomato farm. I was told to visit here by a friend (Annabel) of the owners Kerry and Helen. They took over this quaint little business in December and have been going balls to the walls since then. It really is almost funny how things just seem to break all of the time. The previous owner seemed to be a jack-of-all-trades master of none in the truest sense, just the other day it was observed that the cow shed was assembled with bolts, but without nuts! I take that back there were like two nuts with 5 or so washers behind them because all of the bolts are too long :) (Mom, Dad, does this remind you of a certain little farm in Northern Illinois?) Anywho, I have been playing hydroponic farmer, milking cows, playing assistant sparky, and a number of other things since I got here. Truly a magical place, tear tear.

Anywho, prior to this I was in Christchurch where I met up with a friend and we bummed around and went mountain biking. Christchurch was a blast, pretty neat town with oodles of bike shops! Then I headed south and went over to the Ricia Gorge where I spent the night at the best campsite yet! (Pictures will be posted just having some technical difficulties) There I met Sue, who is my new hero. She has biked all around including NZ 9 times. So she let me tag along the next day to ride with her. We were headed for Geraldine, but stopped halfway to stay with some friends of hers (Frasier and Karen). They have a nice little organic farm with one noisy goose and 4 very cool kids. We were just stopping by, but Sue and I ended up staying for 2 nights and having a really good time! From there we went to Geraldine which is the cutest little town ever! Really good walking around and what do you know we met some friends of Sue and checked out a local portrait painter (John Badcock, check this guy out he is really good!) also a friend of Sue's. We parted ways 2 days later in Pleasant Point where I headed on to the Tomato farm and she rocked it into the central Otago. So that is how I ended up here, working on the farm, chillin, getting fed and convo from Mary (Helen's mum) and overall just slacking off, kinda. Anywho,

Cheers all
