Well, I am back in Greymouth again. Hanging out on the west coast :) Although it was a bit of a mission to get here. I caught a ride with ethan and matt as they were working in Christchurch for a few days. We took off on Tuesday night and made it to Aurther's Pass town no worries. After a quick stop in the town we took off again and about 10km further on we hit a massive rock. Totally just around the corner. The thing ended up stuck beneath the vehicle which was removed via lifting the car with a jack. It cracked the oil pan so we ducktaped it up and drove a 100 meters or so to the base of Temple ski resort where we had cell phone reception (you have no idea how lucky that was). Due to the snow falling in the pass it took a while to get a tow truck out so we had a riveting game of cards and a nap, so cozy. Anywho, the tow truck driver was totally cool and had a rad setup. Got to Grey around 10ish, said bye to ethan and took off to crash. So crazy, the rock really was massive I have a pic but this internet is super slow so it will just have to wait.

It seems your previous message about posting something a bit more exciting was more prescient than you probably imagined. Glad to hear you came through unscathed.
ReplyDeleteMean while back in the midwest. All is well. The biggest good news is that Nathan graduated and is now Dr. Nathan J. Gibson. He is home today and tomorrow job interviewing. It will be good to get him off the "dole" it will seem like a pay raise for us :)
