So, first day here I walked the Kiakoura Pennsula with Karen and Donna, two super cool chicks from Ireland. Sooo, beautiful. Took some great pics! Then I played lawn bowling and joined the local bowling club here! We almost won, but didn't. Very strange game, the balls are weighted so they curve when you throw them! Then that eavening I went to do some stargazing and learned about the southern sky, this was really great. There was a sweet telescope too and we got to see the rings of saturn! Yesterday I went and swam with New Zealand fur seals! A group of four seals played with us for about 20 minutes, it was the best! Then I went to a sheep shearing show with two kids I met on the seal swim, natives and very cool peeps! Chilled and drank beer last night. Funny drunks at the hostle;) Today I went whale watching from a helecopter and it was sooo sweet! I am still really stoked from it. Anywho, hope everyone out there is doing well and having a good time no matter the weather or location.

Hey Lucy! Looks like you are having a great time. I don't know about that helicopter though, looked kind of flimsy, like something someone put together using a mail-order-kit.

Lucy,
ReplyDeleteI just am amazed by what you are doing. Gosh, I just can't imagine. So glad you are meeting nice people. Swimming with the seals, exactly what is that. We are fine and it is Sunday night again.

For clarity swimming with the seals you get into a wetsuit and get in the water near a seal colony and they swim all around and with you. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, how can you tell those seals are Irish? I commented on your photos -- I particularly liked the one of you on the heliocopter.

Sounds Like you are having a great time. I hope that the water tempurature was better than the polar bear plunge. The seals have the right idea wearing fur.
ReplyDeleteWe are just happy that the weather forecast was reduced to only 4 inches of snow tomorrow. Oh well, life in Wisconsin.

Sounds like you're having the time of your life... In regards to the "Sooo, beautiful" part, was that about the peninsula or the chicks you were hanging around with. Haha just kidding. I hope you will still come back in May, but I can see from the pictures that you may have a strong reason not to fly back so soon.
